SEE HOW OBAMA WON A SECOND TERM

Last night President Obama surpassed the decisive 270-vote threshold in the Electoral College with victory in Ohio. That and a later projected victory in another swing state — Virginia — gave him 303 electoral votes to 206 for Romney.

The president did make history Tuesday, becoming the first incumbent since Franklin D. Roosevelt to win a second term with unemployment above 7.4%. At 7.9%, the jobless rate stands a tick up from when Obama took office amid the worst economic downturn since the Depression.
