If you want a real laugh, tune into Comedy Central to see the roast of Roseanne Barr.   The show aired on Sunday, August 12 but will repeat on the network throughout the week.  The group of roasters included Ellen Barkin, Carrie Fisher, Wayne Brady, Gilbert Gottfried, Jeffrey Ross, Katey Sagal, and the event’s host Jane Lynch who all honored the veteran comedienne with verbal jabs.  There were a few surprises including the absence of actress Sharon Stone who was scheduled to attend but withdrew due to a prior movie commitment.  Barr’s ex-husband Tom Arnold was a surprise guest that even shocked her.  His emotional speech was both funny and sentimental.  Arnold stated, “Recently, Roseanne got in trouble for accidentally wishing cancer on Chik-Fil-A customers,” he said. “But you guys can all relax. If she had the power to wish cancer on anyone, I would have been f—ing dead in ’94.”  Pay close attention to the chemistry between Arnold and Barr who claim that they haven’t been in the same room in 18 years.  During a commercial break Barr consoles Arnold but also keeps her distance in saying that they should move “onward and upward.”

There were so many hot one-liners throughout the night including Ross’ speech on the recent Penn State tragedy.  “Folks if you are offended by what you see tonight, just do what Joe Paterno did,” said Ross. “ Look the other way.”  Ouch!

Tune into Comedy Central tonight for another rerun of the roast.  Here’s a sneak peak of Gottfried who stole the show with his animated performance.
